Prelude: Ron Dobscha
ANNOUNCEMENTS CALL TO WORSHIP: Through faith we have overcome the world. It’s not by our doing but through faith in Jesus, the Son of God. We are not bound to sin and the punishment of sin like we once were. God has shown great kindness to us and we love Him! Though we are imperfect, we live lives wanting to obey and follow Him. God has done and continues to do a great work in us. He changes our outlook, our direction and shows us what leads to life. Praise God for His work in us. Worship Him for His faithfulness shown toward the people He loves. INVOCATION
* HYMN “God of Grace and God of Glory” # 307
* PRAYER OF CONFESSION: Heavenly Father, You make it clear that to love You is more than just something we say. To love You means that we submit to You. That we are to deny the things we want or the things we believe about the world in exchange for Your commands and outlook. We know this to be true yet we are so quick to reject it. At times it seems like You require too much, that we are sacrificing too greatly when in truth Your ways are not burden-some and open us to true living. Forgive us for speaking of our love for You without actions that reflect that love. Forgive us for being stubborn and proud to believe that what we want comes before what You want. Restore our affections and obedience to You through the love and forgiveness we receive. Amen * Time of silent prayer *Assurance of Pardon *Response – Gloria Patri *Passing of the peace Children’s Chat Prayer for Illumination Scripture reading: Psalm 1 Lois Miller Sermon Text: 1 John 5: 1-5 *HYMN “Jesu, Jesu. Prelude: Ron Dobscha
ANNOUNCEMENTS CALL TO WORSHIP: God is love. Through all of God’s characteristics, we are shown what love is. There is no greater love than this, God lays down His life in place of ours. We are people who have been shown great love and we are to be people of great love. God’s redemption through perfect love is the reason we can stand confidently in the judgement. The love of God casts out all of our fear. In life and death we stand firmly in God’s great love for us. Come and worship Him for His love endures forever! INVOCATION
* HYMN “Faith of Our Fathers (Mothers)” see insert
* PRAYER OF CONFESSION: Heavenly Father, we praise You for Your grace. Once dead in our sins, You extended Your merciful love to us and we are now made alive together in Christ. Yet we confess that we are still prone at times to follow the desires of our own flesh, and for this we are sorry. Please forgive our forgetfulness of Your gracious love. We are grateful that You do not judge us according to our sins, for we would not stand the scrutiny of Your absolute holiness. Because Christ died for us, He has been judged in our place and punished for our sins. May we now, in faith, fully identify with Christ’s perfect righteousness, simply by trusting in Him. We gratefully pray this in Jesus’ name. AMEN. * Time of silent prayer *Assurance of Pardon *Response – Gloria Patri * passing of the peace Children’s Chat Prayer for Illumination Scripture reading: Psalm 47 Ruby Hathaway Sermon Text: 1 John 4: 7-21 The Word of the Lord Thanks be to God! *HYMN “Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart” # 804 *Apostles Creed Presentation of our tithes and offering Offertory *Doxology *Prayer of dedication Concerns and Celebrations Prayers of the People The Lord’s Prayer *HYMN “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” # 835 *Benediction Postlude Ron Dobscha

Prelude Carol Smith Announcements CALL TO WORSHIP: What are we to fear? Our God has defeated the enemy. Though many things would try to pull us away, we are firmly rooted in the truth about Jesus Christ. But isn’t the enemy too powerful? His temptation too great and sin too destructive? Our God is greater than any power of the world. And that God lives in us! His Spirit empowers us! We never walk alone. Truly, God has come to us in the person of Jesus. Though the power and influence of the enemy is great, God’s power and greatness are unmatched. He has won the battle and has set His people free. Worship Him today. INVOCATION:

Prelude Ron Dobscha Announcements CALL TO WORSHIP: Jesus comes to take away our sins. He removes it, removes our love for it and causes us to love Him. Jesus is what we were not. * HYMN “Because You Live, O Christ” # 249
* PRAYER OF CONFESSION; Heavenly Father, as adopted people You call us to righteousness You make it clear that people transformed by Your grace are to renounce the ways of sin and to live like You. We know this and it is still a hard and long process. Turning from sin is not easy and we fall for the same temptations over and over. We do not bear the fruit that redeemed people ought to. We do not practice righteousness; we do not love our neighbors. Knowing that we are still, even today sinful, we look to our Helper and Advocate for help. Remember Jesus’ righteousness and not our unrighteousness. Forgive us according to His mercy and not our stubbornness. Prepare us as people restored to You and ready to give our lives in obedience. Prelude: Pam Stewart Announcements: CALL TO WORSHIP: Our God has lavished on us such great love. When we were content with being children of the world, our God adopted us and made us His own. We do not know the fullness of the glory that awaits those in Christ. But we are satisfied and anticipating that when we see our Savior’s face, we will be like Him! God finds us in our lowly state but does not leave us there. He purifies us, changes us, and redirects our lives to Him. Praise God for His saving work and sanctifying work in us. *PRAYER OF CONFESSION: Father, even though we are people of the world, You call us to live in the reality of a new kingdom ushered in by Your Son. We are born, prone to the influence of the world around us but You tell us that we must be born again by Your Spirit. Every day we see and hear the Spirit leading us and transforming us and yet, we are still often resistant. Like a rebellious child, we resist the work of our Father. Forgive us Lord, for the ways we hold onto our old lives before Christ. Forgive us for ignoring and complaining about the methods you use to make us holy. PALM SUNDAY Prelude: Carol Smith Announcements: CALL TO WORSHIP: Look! Our mighty King comes on the back of a donkey! The fullness of God, has come to us with a sword in hand, ready to defeat the power of sin and death! His ways are righteous, His judgements are just. Let us not turn our hearts away from Him this day, but forever lay palms and our crowns at His feet! Shout Hosanna! Shout save us! Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Come and worship Him! INVOCATION

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION: Father, on this Palm Sunday we read of Your willing, unwavering entry into the great city that for generations has beheld Your power and kindness. And yet, as the Son enters in, we know that sinful hearts will quickly turn from praise to demand of crucifixion. Today, we also too often reject the King who rides on a donkey. We want Him to destroy our enemies instead of extending mercy, we want to be exalted instead of being humbled, we want fighting instead of peace. Have mercy on us for the countless ways we harden our hearts and resist submission for Our King. Save us, O Lord! Announcements: CALL TO WORSHIP: The Lord calls His people to lay down their way of life for His. To take up our cross, and to devote our lives to following Jesus. What can we expect in our service to the Lord? Things will not always be smooth and easy, our old ways of life will fade away, we will be like sheep sent out among wolves. What will we gain in our service to the Lord? Just as the Lord has joined the Father’s glory, so shall we. To know God is our great reward both in life and death. We pick up our cross and will be raised in His glory. Come and worship our great Lord, King, and Savior! INVOCATION

We become so obsessed with our momentary happiness that we resist Your call to deny ourselves and follow You. Forgive us, God for putting what we want before what You command. For ignoring the needs of our neighbors. For withholding the forgiveness, You so freely extend to us.
